Comparison
DMCA takedown services, compared
Six vendors selling what looks like the same product to two completely different buyers. Most disappointment in this category comes from buying across that line rather than from picking the wrong name.
The short answer
Individual creator: Rulta or BranditScan. Studio with a catalogue: Takedown Piracy or Red Points. The products diverge on scale and workflow, not on quality, and a creator subscription applied to a studio library will fail in ways that look like the vendor underperforming.
Whichever you choose, ignore the notices-sent figure in the sales deck. Ask for removal rate and median time to removal, and ask what happens on the third recurrence of the same file.
The vendors
Who each one is actually built for.
No pricing: it is tiered, negotiated at the studio end, and moves.
| Vendor | Built for | What it is known for |
|---|---|---|
| Rulta | Creators | Creator-first, subscription, aimed at individuals rather than studios. |
| BranditScan | Creators and agencies | Monitoring plus impersonation detection, widely used by management agencies. |
| Ceartas | Creators and studios | Positions on automation and volume of notices issued. |
| Takedown Piracy | Studios | One of the longest-running in adult specifically. Studio scale rather than individual. |
| DMCA.com | General web | Generalist, not adult-specific. Cheap, broad, less tuned to this category. |
| Red Points | Brands and enterprise | Enterprise brand protection across counterfeits and piracy. Heaviest option here. |
What to ask
Five questions that separate them.
| Consideration | Why |
|---|---|
| Who you are changes the answer | A solo creator and a studio with a back catalogue have almost nothing in common as buyers. Most unhappy customers in this category bought the wrong tier, not the wrong vendor. |
| Notices sent is a vanity metric | Volume of notices issued tells you nothing about content actually removed. Ask for removal rate and median time to removal instead. |
| Coverage beyond search | Removing a result from Google does not remove the file. Ask which hosts, forums, Telegram channels and tube sites a vendor actually reaches. |
| Impersonation is a separate problem | Fake accounts using your name are not a copyright matter and are handled under different platform processes. Not every vendor covers both. |
| It is continuous, not a project | Leaked content reappears. Anyone selling a one-time cleanup is selling you a snapshot of a moving problem. |
If you sell this rather than buy it
Content protection has an unusual marketing problem: the same product is sold to enterprise platforms on contracts and to individual creators in distress, and the search demand is almost entirely the second. The measured picture is on the content protection page.
5 questions
Questions we get asked
Which DMCA service is best?
It depends almost entirely on whether you are an individual creator or a studio. Rulta and BranditScan are built around creators and sold by subscription. Takedown Piracy and Red Points are built for catalogue scale. Buying across that line is the most common and most expensive mistake in this category.
Can leaked content actually be removed?
Individual copies, yes, routinely. The content itself, no — it reappears, which is why this is a continuous service rather than a project. The honest measure of a vendor is removal rate and speed on recurrence, not the total number of notices it has sent.
Does this work outside the United States?
The DMCA is US law, but most large hosts operate notice-and-takedown processes regardless of jurisdiction because their own safe harbour depends on it. Enforcement against a non-cooperative host in a permissive jurisdiction is a different and much harder problem.
Is impersonation covered?
Sometimes, and you should check. A fake account using your name and photos is handled under platform impersonation policies rather than copyright, and not every vendor runs both processes.
Do you have a relationship with any of these?
No affiliate or referral arrangement with any of them. Several are companies we would like as clients in the infrastructure vertical, which is a bias worth knowing when you read this.
